These are a shallow concrete bath about half a metre across filled with water, and a central block for stepping on.

Dip a foot, put it on the central block, dip the other foot, and step off it. If you step onto the central block first with a dirty foot, you make the block dirty.

There's one in front of each dorm, the dining room and most of the meditation halls.

They only really need to be used when it's wet.

Cleaning these is one of the chores. It has been known for people to put flowers in the water after cleaning them.
